Unified communications (UC) is a highly competitive market, with frequent, new innovations that have the potential to change the whole landscape. According to a new report, Avaya has been announced as a “champion” of the UC field.
On May 29, Info-Tech Research Group announced the results of a new Vendor Landscape report, and Avaya earned the top product scores out of 12 major UC vendors.
“With a wide range of UC features, Avaya Aura(R) is well-positioned as both the UC platform of choice for Avaya IP telephony users, as well as an option for deploying an integrated, ‘over the top’ UC solution in conjunction with other non-Avaya IP telephony environments,” the market research organization said.
According to the report, Avaya marks high on criteria including features, usability, cost and architecture. The report also mentioned Avaya significantly strengthening its ability to deliver video to mobile devices.
The report points out that the UC market is no longer just presence and messaging, but now includes new communication tools like video, voice, VoIP telephony systems and document sharing as well as the addition of mobile devices and remote employees.
Mobility is a key factor in the future of UC. Aside from just the scores, the report also speculates that by mid-2013, 35 percent of the workforce will use personal devices for work related tasks and 89 percent of business will allow personal devices to access work email.
Companies looking to make a switch to a unified communication system should invest in a managed IT service to seek out the best possible option for their business.
