Improving a reported lag on productivity with a managed IT service

With enterprise employees becoming more and more used to the sleek and highly functional interface of mobile technology, staff members are reporting frustration that software on corporate-grade PCs have not yet followed suit.

According to an online survey of 1,500 IT professionals in North America published by software tools provider Embarcadero Technologies, 72 percent of the polled respondents stated that their productivity was diminished when they were forced to search for, install, upgrade and maintain the software to complete their duties alone.

And, not surprisingly, this expressed loss of productivity is causing a significant financial hemorrhage. For example, respondents mentioned that the lag in the software search and install process results in a loss of just over 67 hours. This translates to an economic loss of nearly $3,000 per employee per year.

According to a summary of the survey published by Business Wire, “If you project that the dollars invested in each employee should produce a three-to-one return, than the impact to the revenue line of the company would be $8,555.25 per employee, per year.”

As Michael Swindell, senior vice president of product management and project marketing for Embarcadero, stated that the way PC software is being used is simply not in touch with how employees want to be using it. Consequently, considering the lightning speed at which users can manipulate applications on their smartphones, the methods of acquiring and installing software are largely antiquated.

Therefore, in order to streamline enterprise processes and diminish the productivity losses described above, it would be wise for corporate officials to outsource software tasks to a managed IT service such as CTI Technology. With the ability to deploy seamless maintenance and support services, these professionals have a wide array of IT services that can take the burden of software processes off the end user. Consequently, he or she will have more time to focus on core processes, ultimately improving revenue generation for the enterprise.
