We are in the age of instant information and connectivity. This has led many businesses to take a deeper look at their networking and unified communication (UC) solutions. Company decision makers need to stay plugged into the industry as it is evolving.
Infonetics Research – a technology research firm – released a new study that examined the state of the UC industry. The data was gathered by surveying executives and employees. After gathering all of the responses, the largest takeaway was the need for mobility.
“Our unified communications survey reveals a really important shift taking place as enterprises increasingly use mobile devices to access UC applications,” said Diane Myers, the principal analyst for VoIP, UC, and IMS at Infonetics Research. “Survey respondents indicate that smartphones and tablets will be the two most widely used devices for UC in 2013, passing traditional computers and deskphones.”
Also, according to the survey, the most important aspect of a successful UC solution – as cited by 71 percent of respondents – is the ability to incorporate mobile devices. As the functionality of smartphones and tablets increases, it is easy to understand why the gadgets are becoming a crucial part of business workflow.
The report also found that employees desire time, flexibility and productivity and they are the top drivers for deploying a UC option. These are all benefits that a strong cabling solution and mobile devices can provide.
Unfortunately, not every small business has the internal resources to successfully incorporate the devices into a company network. Many decision makers can rely on IT consulting firms to help find the most efficient way to incorporate the solutions.
