New study assesses the VoIP purchasing process of business owners

While VoIP industry experts had been predicting that the services would rise in popularity in 2012 as more companies look to save money and make the most of their existing resources, a recently released study aimed to assess exactly what business owners are looking for during the purchasing process for these essential communications services.

On January 16, the study, which was conducted by WhichVoIP, a VoIP services review and comparison website, indicated that four out of every five business owners say that price is the most important factor that influenced their decision to purchase VoIP business phones.

In addition, the survey found that roughly three out of every five of the respondents said that extra services offered at no extra charge were a primary factor in their purchasing decision, while an equal portion of the sample audience indicated that the knowledge of the sales staff helped sway their decision. About a quarter of the company owners surveyed suggested that the friendliness of the salesperson was also a factor.

“This is real data from customers telling us what they would like from providers – not only in terms of service, but also in terms of the sales process,” Mike Bragg, CFO of WhichVoIP, said in a release. “Business VoIP service providers who seek business customers can benefit greatly from the information our survey revealed.”

Overall, the results seem to reinforce the idea that economic conditions are likely to continue to contribute to rising VoIP sales in the coming months. As such, business owners who are looking to invest in these cutting-edge services may be wise to do business with a provider that has more experience in the industry, as these companies generally offer services and prices that have been perfected over time.
