Hyoun Park, a  research analyst with Aberdeen Group, added that companies must analyze measures such as total cost of ownership when evaluating the benefits of certain third-party services. This metric, which evaluates upfront and recurring costs, may be the most frank depiction of a service’s value.

“Total cost of ownership represents a holistic measure of the complete financial impact associated with the Unified Communications purchase decision and should be the most important issue for any IT financial stakeholder purchasing a new system,” Park explained.
