While SoCloMo – referring to the penetration of social, mobile and cloud technologies into the hearts and minds of the corporate world – is still being developed and refined, a far more established digital business process is bandwidth.

Referring to the amount of information that can pass through the “band” at any given time, most internet users are aware that more bandwidth (frequently referred to as broadband) enables far quicker browsing while less bandwidth leaves frustrated users waiting for the next page to load.

Considering how enterprises that deploy broadband strategies are reducing downtime by facilitating lightning-fast browsing capabilities, one can imagine that these businesses can enjoy greater success and operational efficiencies.

Corroborating this idea is a study entitled “The 2012 Jobs and Broadband Report, National Projections On How American Businesses Use Computers and Broadband to Grow, Hire and Thrive,” which found that corporations that deployed broadband practices earned far more revenue than those that did not.

After surveying more than 7,000 different businesses in Texas, South Carolina, Michigan, Minnesota, Florida, Tennessee, Alaska, Iowa and Nevada, the study found that one in three companies in the U.S. conducts online sales.

Interestingly though, it was determined that businesses that established a broadband connection to facilitate these sales generated more than $300,000 in annual revenue when compared to competitors who did not utilize broadband.

“These findings have important implications for all policymakers and business leaders,” said Tom Ferree who was associated with the study. “Expanding broadband access, adoption, and use is a proven driver of economic growth and is vital to ensure the United States’ place in the global digital economy.”

Consequently, companies that neglected to opt for a broadband option would benefit from partnering with a national IT service such as CTI Technology that can provide the network cabling installation in order to get a broadband program up-and-running.
