Study shows US lagging behind other countries in global cloud market

A recent study undertaken by business solutions provider Tata Consultancy Services found that cloud adoption in the U.S. is modest compared to markets in Asia Pacific and Latin America.

The cloud technology industry has been one of the most salient trends for American corporations in past years. Many enterprises in a wide variety of industries are slowly but surely recognizing the benefits of remote work, reduced costs, eased IT burdens and disaster recovery by turning to managed IT services to host the full scope of a business’ data log remotely.

However, while cloud computing has indeed been a pressing topic for corporation in the United States, a recent study undertaken by business solutions provider Tata Consultancy Services, which polled 600 senior managers and IT executives from all over the world, found that cloud adoption in the U.S. is modest compared to markets in Asia Pacific and Latin America.

For example, according to statistics generated through the study, the average company in Latin America has shifted nearly 40 percent of all its applications into the cloud. Similarly, the average company in Asia Pacific has done the same with nearly 30 percent of corporate applications.

By contrast though, only 19 percent of companies in the United States have utilized cloud technology for their data management.

Interestingly, one of the primary reasons listed for slower cloud adoption in America is concerns of privacy, leading enterprises in the U.S. to be far choosier about what information they allow to be remotely hosted. For example, the study reports that only 20 percent of the polled American respondents were comfortable shifting their most critical applications to the cloud.

Consequently, in order for American businesses to maintain a competitive edge in the global marketplace, it would be wise to partner with a national IT service such as CTI Technology that can simultaneously supply cloud computing solutions, network security options and ongoing maintenance and support.

These professionals will allow a business to enjoy all the gains to be had with remotely managed data with confidence that any private information is being kept safe and secure.
