The future of printing may need unified communications support

Over the past few years, it’s become more important than ever for business owners to be well versed in the latest developments that affect not only their industry, but also the tech world, where new innovations are making workers more productive and cutting costs all over the country.

This notion was highlighted by a recent article by Entrepreneur Magazine’s Jonathan Blum. His piece indicated that more than a few of the 10 tech trends that will be defining how businesses approach their day-to-day operations in 2012 require technical know-how to implement correctly and efficiently.

According to the report, 2012 will be a year when mobile phones and printers finally begin working in unison in the workplace. While cloud computing networks have been allowing employees to access, send and even edit documents while on the go, until now, many workers could only use a business computer to print essential paperwork because their employer’s network lacked the ability to connect their phones with a company printer.

“Whether it’s a real estate agent on the move who needs printed copies of contracts or an insurance agent who needs to print several forms quickly, printing without a PC has become more of a must-have than simply a premium,” Tuan Tran, vice president of Hewlett-Packard’s printing and imaging group, told the news source.

However, to ensure this type of system is working correctly, business owners need to invest in unified communications systems that can handle the data without error. Smartphones and tablets need to be connected to a business’ servers in a way that doesn’t cause problems in other areas, such as clogging server space or rendering other devices unusable.

As such, owners who feel as though this new technological innovation could improve the functionality of their workers may want to speak to a provider of VoIP telephony systems that can provide consulting on the best measures they can take to prepare their network for the integration of these devices.
