Due to the many benefits provided by VoIP business phones, business owners who are looking to provide their customers and workers with more streamlined communications are switching to the new technology. While once treated as a luxury expense, market activity has increased as business owners are now looking to boost the productivity of their existing staff instead of making potentially costly new hires.
According to a new report by the business consulting firm Front and Sullivan, the market for SIP and VoIP trunking services amounts to roughly $2 billion annually, TMCNet reports. The study suggests more than 7 million companies are now using the voice service that comes with access to long distance networks.
However, the study did not include data on hosted VoIP telephony services, another big sector of the market, which suggests the number of businesses seeking solutions from VoIP as a whole is much larger.
In particular, Frost and Sullivan noted that the strong sales are being pushed by small business owners – defined for the purposes of the survey as those with less than 500 full-time employees. The news source says the report found that these institutions are responsible for 85 percent of the sales generated by SIP and VoIP trunking services.
In its March 2011 report, market research firm Infonetics noted a similar increase. In a statement about the findings, analyst Diane Myers noted that while residential houses continue to drive most of the VoIP sales, businesses are adopting the technology at a faster pace.
Due to the unique advantages provided by VoIP – such as cloud computing solutions, increased access to company services and improved customer response times – business owners who are looking to embrace potential cost-cutting initiatives may want to speak to a nationwide provider today.
However, the study did not include data on hosted VoIP telephony services, another big sector of the market, which suggests the number of businesses seeking solutions from VoIP as a whole is much larger.
