Starting in spring 2012, fans of the Florida Marlins will be able to enjoy a new ballpark to watch the hometown nine. Marlins employees, meanwhile, will benefit from the park’s new unified communications solutions, provided by the vendor ShoreTel.
The communications company announced that the major league ballclub would deploy a number of its technologies at the new park. That stadium is being constructed on 17 acres at the former site of the Orange Bowl, once the home field for college football’s Miami Hurricanes.
Marlins executives said they appreciated the increased functionality and the ease of use they would enjoy by switching to VoIP business phones provided by ShoreTel.
We expect our users to experience increased productivity with the collaboration of voice, video, data, and cell services,” David Enriquez, the Marlins’ IT director, said in a press release. One important factor in the decision was ShoreTel’s lower total cost of ownership when compared to other manufacturers.
The new baseball stadium will seat 37,000 and include a retractable roof and natural grass playing field. The Marlins had previously played their games at Sun Life Stadium, which is also home to professional football’s Miami Dolphins.
The team is just one of many organizations to select ShortTel as its provider of network services and unified communications. The company, which already accounts for 10 percent of the American market, recently announced it would also be expanding its services to Australia and New Zealand.
Business owners who wish to implement ShoreTel or other VoIP solutions at their company are advised to turn to a trusted reseller that can help with installation and also provide expert customer support.
