While the economy as a whole still remains sluggish, small business owners across the country are finding ways to remain competitive in the market, as entrepreneurs, manufacturers and service providers continue to fight against the poor fiscal climate. Many are looking for ways to weather out the poor economy, and for some, this means making potentially growth-limiting spending cuts. Still, despite the problems facing this demographic, new reports indicate business owners were more optimistic in September than in previous months.
For example, on October 11, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) released new data indicating that small business optimism gained 0.8 points during September. The NFIB indicated that the number of owners expected the economy to increase in the next half year increased, while similarly more respondents said they felt as though real sales would improve.
However, regardless of the upticks, both polls remained strongly negative, and around 1 out of every 3 business owners suggested that slow sales was still one of their biggest problems.
“An increase in consumer spending would be the best imaginable stimulus right now, not gimmicky Washington policies,” NFIB chief economist Bill Dunkelberg said in a press release.
However, reports indicate many consumers are sticking tight to their fiscal prudence and saving when they can. As a result, business owners may want to think outside the box when it comes to reducing their expenditures.
One method many small businesses are using to cut costs while gaining a number of essential services is by making the switch to VoIP business phones. Regardless of whether a company needs top quality Boston or Chicago business phones, owners looking for real solutions may want to speak with a VoIP company about how it can provide the company’s workers with more flexible communications.
However, regardless of the upticks, both polls remained strongly negative, and around 1 out of every 3 business owners suggested that slow sales was still one of their biggest problems.
