With so many technological advances in the business sphere, enterprises of all sizes have been able to maximize their efficiency and present employees with the tools to complete their responsibilities faster and with enhanced precision.
However, while end users are enjoying optimized productivity in the wake of new technological innovation, a recent study is suggesting that IT departments nationwide are having trouble keeping up with the evolution of their job description.
According to a recent report undertaken by CompTIA – a non-profit information technology trade association – which surveyed more than 500 business and IT professionals in the United States, 93 percent of respondents reported a gap between the skills exhibited by their IT department and the kind of skills that officials want IT professionals to possess.
Similarly, only just over half of the respondents reported that their IT department was “moderately close” to providing the technical support required in an increasingly mobile and digital workspace.
“There are so many new variables entered into the equation today – cloud computing, mobility, the trend towards bringing your own device, video conferencing,” said Tim Herbert of CompTIA in an article published by Wired. “When you add those in, there is definitely concern that IT staff is still catching up.”
While an IT staff still provides businesses with valuable enterprise functions, in the modern world, many technology issues can be outsourced to a managed IT service that can successfully fulfill implementation and training initiatives.
Consequently, rather than taking costly steps to ensure that an in-house department has the necessary resources to support all the other branches of an organization, it may be a wiser decision to partner with a Chicago IT service such as CTI Technology with wide experience utilizing and tailoring specialized modern technological initiatives to individual business models.
